Companies such as Bell
Atlantic (now Verizon), Coca-Cola, Hewlett Packard
and IBM have used Bob Tomasko as a featured speaker at
events held for their key customers. His presentations helped
position these companies at the leading edge of thought about
critical issues facing those they do business with.
At Bell
Atlantic's customer conference on Amelia Island, Florida,
he previewed the kinds of organizational changes necessary to
move "beyond reengineering." His session - which received
the highest ratings of any at that program - dealt with the need
for middle managers to be in load bearing jobs and for professionals
to have ways for career advancement that don't require them all
to become managers.
At a Hewlett Packard event,
his talk on the "architecture of change" to a group
of presidents and chief information officers was proceeded by
a speech from HP's chief executive, Lewis Platt, and followed
by Paul Krugman, an MIT economist and author.
When Hartford
Steam Boiler invited 26 of its best clients - CEOs and
presidents of the leading U.S. insurance companies - to its annual
client seminar at an Arizona desert resort, Bob Tomasko was asked
to spend a half day with them, exploring ways to find growth
opportunities in what was being written off as a stalemated,
mature business.
First
Chicago Bank built a day-long program around
the framework highlighted in his book "Rethinking the Corporation".
They also invited executives from Honda, Sara Lee and Xerox to
provide examples from their businesses to illustrate his key
points.
His comments about the
critical role of outsourcing have reinforced messages Bankers
Trust, First Data and Interlabor wanted to convey to their major
clients in customer conferences they held in Tampa, Phoenix and
Brussels.
A number of consulting
organizations, such as Arthur
D. Little, Ernst & Young, Price
Waterhouse and Right Associates have highlighted him
at their regular client conferences and marketing seminars. These
have been held throughout North America, in most major cities
in Europe, as well as in Brazil, Mexico, Japan and Singapore.
One of these consulting
firms had his dinner speeches in Holland followed by spirited
commentary from the chief executives of Philips and Unilever
- both of whom had read his book and applied his ideas in their
companies.
Bob Tomasko is also used
as a keynote speaker and
an idea stimulator at
internal management meetings.
